These days, at 10 months old, Baby Bear is quite the busy body. Always wanting to get into things she’s not supposed to. Especially the dirt when we are outside! We’ve already ruined a few pairs of pants in the garden this year. I thought I would incorporate this love for digging into a fun, safe, sensory activity. Today we got outside for some fun, messy, sensory play with cloud dough!
This cloud dough is similar to sand, but it is taste safe for babies (if they attempt to taste it – it is NOT meant to eat!!) and you only need two ingredients!
To make cloud dough:
4 cups heat-treated* flour
1 cup coconut oil
Mix together and play!
*Flour is a raw food and could contain harmful bacteria. To make the flour safe to play with you can heat treat it by microwaving for 30 second intervals, stirring each time, until it reaches 165 degrees F. You can also spread the flour on a baking sheet and bake at 300 degree F for 2 minute intervals until it reaches 165 degrees. Make sure to cool the flour completely before using.
E loved this! I threw in a couple garden tools and cups and she had a good time. It holds together pretty well and you can mold it to make castles! It was a little messy because she was dropping it everywhere, so it makes for a good outside activity.
If you have younger little ones, you might want to check out these sensory play activities we did at 6 months old!
