This past weekend I decided to take the plunge and cut off quite a bit of my hair. I believe the accurate term would be I got a “mom haircut”. I was so tired of my long hair…having to move it out of the way so baby bear didn’t pull on it all day long. Every time she nursed she would somehow find it and pull. I was always pulling handfuls of my hair out of her fists. Not to mention, after giving birth and your hormones settle down (somewhat), there is typically some hair loss. Because of the hormones during pregnancy, you don’t shed as mush hair daily as you normally would. Instead you get to save it up and have nice beautiful think hair, of course until you are no longer pregnant and your hair starts falling out in amounts that convince you you will surely be bald in a matter of days. I’m actually not really sure how I have any hair left on my head between this and baby pulling out the other strands that are desperately trying to hold on.
So anyway, I cut it short-ish. A lot shorter than it was. I tried to keep it somewhat “stylish” and went with an “angled lob”. I have no idea what the actual term is – I am not at all educated in the hairstyle terms. So far, I love it! It takes a little work to make it look ok, but it is so much more manageable than my long hair. I guess that’s why so many new moms eventually discover the “mom haircut”. Especially people like me, who don’t have any idea how to style their hair in the first place, even if they had all the time in the world ?
I should have done this months ago!
