Recently, I have been hearing so much about Trader Joe’s and I couldn’t take it anymore, I just had to go. If you aren’t familiar, Trader Joe’s is a grocery store that is known for their many specialty products that are packaged under their own brand and offered at value prices. The closest one to where we live is about an hour away and last week we were already going to be heading that direction and I realized now is my chance! And yes – it sure did live up to the hype.
The first thing we laid eyes on were the flowers. So many flowers! Evelyn was mesmerized by the flowers and we took our time to literally smell the roses while I figured out how I was going to choose. And then I found a bouquet with both gerbera daises and lilies. Sold. And it was $3.99. I was pretty pleased with the prices. I also picked up potted tulips because I just couldn’t resist. And I can plant those later, so bonus.
We walked up and down the aisles over and over. I actually did it so many times, I felt like the employees were going to start getting suspicious that I was up to something! This was after I went back to the flowers two or three times and circled the tulip display about five. There were so many things to look at! And we weren’t in a hurry – actually we had to kill some time!
I had a list of things I was on the lookout for that were suggested by those following along on Facebook and Instagram (shameless follow me plug!) and somehow many other things were magically finding their way into the cart! I picked up some garlic infused olive oil, garlic and herb pizza dough and fresh pizza sauce, cookie butter, sweet potato chips, cold brew coffee concentrate, some cheap wine (because we all know I am not that fancy), and a few other random things. It was also Hubby’s birthday that day so we had to pick out some special treats for him and they even had a cute little double chocolate cake so I didn’t have to make another stop later!
Another highlight was the mini carts they had for kids! They looked just like the normal carts, but they were tiny! This would have been a dream come true for me as a kid. I would have LOVED that! I’m sure they are a pain in the ass for parents, because I watched a little girl run into someone and sneak cookies into her cart within the same 2 minutes. But, she looked like she was having the time of her life!
Overall, they had a pretty big selection – there was more than I expected and everything was affordable. Lots of healthy options and things you don’t see everywhere. We will definitely be back! Leave me some more suggestions on your favorite things to get at TJ’s!
