So remember that lifestyle change I wrote about a little while ago? We crashed and burned over the holidays. It all began to unwind on a fateful “Taco Tuesday” at our favorite taco place the week before Christmas. And then there was Christmas cookie baking a few times that left a ridiculous amount of cookies in the house to be eaten. Pizza with family and then with friends and then just because. And Christmas Eve dinner with 3 different kinds of pierogies and kielbasa topped with sour cream. And Christmas dinner with my Nana’s homemade macaroni that probably has at least 5 pounds of cheese in it. That night I also had two desserts because I couldn’t decide. We can’t forget about all of the traveling we did which included stops at Bigby for grande Mocha Mochas. I think I only cooked dinner once? Maybe twice? In the last few weeks. See, I told you it was bad! But man, did I enjoy every minute of it! It was so nice to have Stan home for a week and a half. We had a great holiday!
It is now back to reality and we have got to get it together! It’s not like we were doing perfect before Christmas but at least I was cooking healthy dinners (most of the time) and Stan was bringing lunch to work everyday. Now that all the Christmas cookies are gone and all of the pop from family gatherings is out of here, we are getting down to business.
Evelyn is the only one of us on track and learning about new vegetables! She’s had sweet potatoes a couple of times and today we are going to try peas. She sure loves eating!
I really need to work on being more active. That is my main goal for this week. It is so hard for me to find active things to do. Especially because it is so cold out now we can’t go for walks (technically we could – but I just really don’t want to walk in the cold with the baby a.k.a. Getting baby bundled up). This morning I did yoga using the WiiFit…which told me my fitness age was 39 ?. If that’s not motivation enough I don’t know what is! Maybe tonight we will go to the mall to walk around.
Here’s to 2016 and a cliche start to the new year with a healthy lifestyle change!
