We had a magnificent weekend and so much fun celebrating Halloween! I just had to do this recap so I could look back at all the fun memories we made.
On Friday, it was my mom’s birthday! She came to visit for a couple of days and that night my sister-in-law and niece also came up to celebrate. We wanted to get the girls together in costume and had planned to go to a Halloween event at the nature center. When we got there, there was a crazy long line just to trick-or-treat on the trail. So we bailed and went out to dinner instead! We did get some cute pictures of them in their costumes, so that’s all that really mattered anyway!
At dinner, Grammy got lots of lovin’ from her babies. Those girls are the sweetest together. L loves feeding E so we had lots of laughs over dinner and I about peed my pants laughing when they dug into Grammy’s birthday ice cream!
On Saturday, my husband and I left early in the morning to go to Cedar Point (an amusement park)…all by ourselves! We had leftover tickets from earlier this year and this was the last weekend of the season to use them. We had so much fun. It was crazy crazy busy because it was Halloweekends, but it was so nice not to worry about anyone except ourselves. We wandered around, rode some rides, and enjoyed some much needed alone time. It sure is easier to do things without dragging a kid around! I’d almost forgot what it was like.
We got home really late, so when the baby cried to get up in the morning, my mom got up with her. I was so giddy I almost couldn’t fall back asleep. Almost. I didn’t get up until 10am! Whaaat! It was glorious. Talk about the ultimate babysitter. Did I mention the dishes were done when we got home?
On Sunday, we carved pumpkins. E was interested, but would not reach her hand into the pumpkin. She like playing with a spoon in the pumpkin guts we put into the bowl.
We let her paint her pumpkin and she definitely ended up with more paint on her than the pumpkin! It was a lot of fun!
We lit our pumpkins in the living room and ordered pizza for dinner. It was a very relaxing day. E changed from one pair of jammies right into the next!
On Halloween, we played outside in the leaves and then went out to get donuts.
It’s safe to say, E likes donuts as much as her momma!
Daddy got home from work early to get ready for trick-or-treating! Last minute we decided to dress up and threw together some costumes with things from previous years. I had to bribe E with some candy to take a picture with us! No shame.
We went trick-or-treating at a couple neighbor’s houses but all the excitement wore E out. She was ready for bed almost an hour before her normal bedtime! We put her to bed and passed out candy to the last of the trick-or-treaters. I can’t wait until she can get excited about Halloween with us…and really rake in the candy for me 😉
I hope you and your families had a fun Halloween! What is your favorite candy to sneak out of the stash? I call the Resse’s!
