Fall is in full swing here in Michigan and pumpkins are everywhere! I decided pumpkins in my coffee and on our front porch just wasn’t enough so we got a little crafty and made a finger painted pumpkin banner!
I’ve been painting with E since she was just an itty bitty. As she grows, I love watching how our painting experiences change. I love doing crafts and I like to get her involved as much as possible.
For our pumpkin banner, we painted card stockĀ pumpkin cut-outs using 3 different techniques. These 3 ways are a great way to get the whole family involved from your littlest members to the adults!
Mess-Free Finger Painting – Place your pumpkin cut-out and a few drops of paint into a gallon size zip top bag. Seal it shut and squish, swirl, and mix the colors together! You can also tape the bag down to the table or to the floor so it doesn’t move around. This is a great way for the littlest members of your family to get involved! Check out the first time I did this with E š
Old-Fashioned Finger Painting – Getting little hands right into the paint is a great sensory activity. I gave E a few different tools to use and explore. She painted her pumpkins with great concentration! We painted the pumpkin cut-outs on a cookie sheet for easy clean-up!
Painting With Marbles – We put a few pumpkin cut-outs in a pan with marbles, added some paint and moved the pan around to create a cool pattern on the pumpkins. I love how these ones turned out! This technique is more suitable for the older kids (and adults!) because of the small marbles and all. We did have a lid for our pan so E could shake it!
I love how our banner turned out and I love that it was something the whole family took part in making (even Dad)!
My friend Jessie at The Simple Sweetheart put together a Mom Blogger Round-Up where some fabulous moms shared their favorite fall activities. You’ll see this craft and other fun activities you can add to your fall bucket list!
