Shortly after we brought E home from the hospital, I started to notice these dry, red patches all over her body. It wasn’t long before we learned she had eczema. Eczema is a red itchy rash that is common in young children, but thankfully, often outgrown. We are still dealing with E’s eczema and even though it is not nearly as severe as it has been, it is always on my mind.
If you have a baby who has eczema, you know that it is absolutely heart wrenching to see them suffer. And it is frustrating trying to get it under control and even more frustrating when you can’t find something that works.
We’ve tried all kinds of lotions, steroid creams, and coconut oil. We’ve switched laundry detergents, done allergy tests, done calming bath treatments. Some of these things helped, but never completely healed it. Any small irritation to her skin can result in a huge red itchy outbreak within the hour!
In my quest to get E’s eczema under control, I took a good look at the products, and more specifically, the chemicals that were coming into contact with her skin and started to make some changes.
One of my biggest concerns were baby wipes. Take a look at how many chemicals are in your wipes. In the “sensitive” ones we were using, there were 18!! And if you are a mom, you know you use those things for everything. Not only during diaper changes, but meal time clean up, wiping up messes where your kids eat, or cleaning dirty hands after a visit to the park. And really, maybe you use them for yourself. I know I do! Because of their convenience, baby wipes were one of the last things that I struggled with to find a good replacement.
It wasn’t until I tried WaterWipes from Walgreen’s that this weight has been lifted from my mind. WaterWipes contain two ingredients, 99.9% pure Irish water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract. Completely chemical free and the world’s purest baby wipe! They also have the seal of acceptance from the National Eczema Association.
Even if you don’t have a child with sensitive skin, you are probably always on the look out for the safest products for your little one. There are so many options out there but with WaterWipes, you don’t have to worry about any potentially harmful chemicals found in other baby wipes. They are durable, effective and they don’t have the horrible wipe smell that you associate with dirty diapers! Ew!
Eliminating several chemicals from our home has shown a real improvement in E’s skin. Since using WaterWipes, the irritation we commonly see in her diaper area has greatly improved. We had been using washcloths with water to clean up after meal time, and honestly, having these wipes make it so much easier. Especially when we are out and about. Her face is one of the most common places for an eczema outbreak and I can use these to clean her up without worry.
Just as I was writing this, my husband came in to grab another pack and said, “we have to get some more of these!” You know they have to be good if even the husband notices the difference in wipes!

We use those too!! All the other wipes used to give Natalie nasty rashes. Even gave her a yeast infection a couple times. After switching to water wipes, clear as day (except when she’s teething) and no yeast infections! Plus I use them on everything! Wipe up her tray, her hands, face, get food out of her hair haha!

I’m glad they work so well for her! I wish I would have switched to them sooner. I would have saved myself some sanity!

My babies have eczema, and I feel you, it’s hard to watch! I have a problem using too much of the steroid creams, and you’re right the other wipes have all kinds of terrible ingredients. I think it’s so interesting that you found these at Walgreens, I love that! I’m going to head over there today to get some of these. Thanks for sharing!

Jen, The steroid creams make me nervous! I hope you find the wipes as helpful for your babies!

I’m going to get some of these for myself for when we are camping! The eczema on my hands always gets worse when I’m away from home and the ‘sensitive’ wipes make them sting.

That is a good idea! Good for all ages!

We have battles with eczema too. Thankfully not too bad. I think hers has to do food sensitivities. I should pick some of these up!

These sound great! I don’t have any babies, but with no chemicals and stuff they would be fantastic for our cat!!! He needs a wipe down every once in a while and this way I don’t have to worry about him ingesting something nasty!

It great you have found a product that lessens the itching for E. It must bring you comfort to know you found something that gives her some relief.
I’ll be spreading the word about these to some of the older generation I know who suffer from eczema.
Thanks for the info.
